Kicksactions
Kicksactions is a term used in design discussions to describe a family of short, reward-based interactions embedded in digital platforms to prompt user engagement. A kicksaction is a discrete action that a user performs or a system prompts the user to perform, in order to receive an immediate reward, progress toward a goal, or access to content. The concept sits at the intersection of gamification and lightweight user interfaces and is defined by low friction, rapid feedback, and clear outcomes.
Mechanism and triggers: Each kicksaction is defined by a kick trigger and a corresponding action. Kick triggers
Examples: In onboarding flows, a user might perform a kicksaction such as watching a short tutorial video
History and reception: The term emerged in design discussions in the early 2020s as a descriptive shorthand
