Kenderigs

Kenderigs are a fictional race of people native to the world of Krynn, featured in the Dragonlance series of novels and role-playing games. They are characterized by an insatiable curiosity, a penchant for "borrowing" without asking, and an optimistic outlook on life. Kender are also known for their diminutive stature, often described as being shorter than most humans, with wiry builds. Their hair and eye colors vary widely, and they are typically clad in brightly colored, mismatched clothing.

A defining trait of Kender is their complete lack of fear. This isn't to say they are fearless in the sense of being brave, but rather that the concept of fear is simply alien to them. They approach dangerous situations with the same casual curiosity they apply to everything else. This often leads them into trouble, but their inherent luck and resourcefulness usually see them through.

Kender society is tribal and nomadic, with no formal government or laws as other races understand them. Instead, their social structure is based on community and mutual aid, with a strong emphasis on sharing what they have. Their concept of ownership is also unconventional; they believe that anything not actively being used by someone else is fair game to be "borrowed" indefinitely. This habit, while often frustrating to other races, is not seen as malicious by the Kender themselves. They are generally well-meaning and do not intend to steal.

Prominent Kender characters in the Dragonlance saga include Tasslehoff Burrfoot, who serves as a constant source of both comic relief and unexpected wisdom, and Porthios Kanan, a more stoic Kender who nonetheless embodies many of the race's core characteristics. Their unique perspective and abilities make them distinctive and memorable inhabitants of the Dragonlance world.
