Kasvukiiruseks, often translated as growth spurt, refers to a period of rapid and significant physical development, primarily seen in children and adolescents. This phenomenon is a natural and crucial part of human maturation, characterized by a sudden increase in height and weight. The onset and duration of growth spurts vary considerably among individuals and are influenced by a complex interplay of genetic factors, hormonal signals, and environmental influences such as nutrition and overall health.

During a growth spurt, the body undergoes rapid cellular division and elongation, particularly in the long bones of the limbs. This leads to a noticeable increase in height over a relatively short period. Alongside height gain, there is also a corresponding increase in body mass, with muscle development and changes in body composition occurring. Hormones, especially growth hormone and sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone, play a pivotal role in regulating these developmental changes.
