Kääntöpuominosturit, often translated as slewing jib cranes, are a type of industrial lifting equipment characterized by a horizontal boom that can rotate around a vertical pivot. This rotation allows for precise positioning of loads within a defined circular or semi-circular work area. The boom, also known as a jib, is typically supported by a mast or column.

These cranes are commonly found in manufacturing plants, workshops, and loading docks where they are used for repetitive lifting tasks, such as moving materials between workstations or loading and unloading trucks. Their design makes them ideal for applications requiring localized material handling without needing the extensive reach of larger overhead cranes.

Kääntöpuominosturit can be powered by electric motors or manually operated. Electric versions offer greater lifting capacity and smoother operation, while manual cranes are simpler, less expensive, and suitable for lighter loads. The lifting mechanism usually involves a trolley that travels along the jib, carrying a hoist. The hoist can be a chain hoist or a wire rope hoist, depending on the required lifting height and load capacity.

The rotational movement of the jib is often achieved through a slew ring bearing, allowing for 180-degree or even 360-degree rotation. Control is typically provided by pendant controls, allowing the operator to maneuver the crane from a safe proximity to the load. Installation can be floor-mounted, wall-mounted, or integrated into existing structures, offering flexibility for different factory layouts. Safety features are crucial and typically include overload protection, emergency stops, and limit switches to prevent over-travel.
