Juuksetüübile, often referred to as hair type, describes the distinct characteristics and structure of an individual's hair. These characteristics are largely determined by genetics and can vary significantly from person to person. The primary factors that define hair type include texture, density, porosity, and curl pattern.

Texture generally refers to the thickness of individual hair strands. Hair can be fine, medium, or coarse. Fine hair is thin and can easily become weighed down, while coarse hair is thicker and may appear more resistant to styling. Medium hair falls in between these two extremes.

Hair density relates to the number of hair follicles on the scalp. Someone with high density has many hairs, making their hair appear thick and voluminous. Low density means fewer hair follicles, resulting in thinner-looking hair.

Porosity describes the hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture. High porosity hair has raised cuticles, allowing moisture to enter and escape easily, leading to dryness. Low porosity hair has tightly bound cuticles, making it difficult for moisture to penetrate, but once absorbed, it is retained well. Medium porosity hair balances these two.

Curl pattern encompasses the shape of the hair strands. This ranges from straight (Type 1) with no discernible waves or curls, to wavy (Type 2) which can be loose or more defined, to curly (Type 3) with spirals or corkscrews, and finally to tightly coiled or kinky (Type 4) hair which can have a zigzag pattern. Understanding one's hair type is crucial for selecting appropriate hair care products and styling techniques to maintain optimal hair health and appearance.
