Isäntäkehys

Isäntäkehys, often translated as "host frame" or "parent frame" in English, is a fundamental concept in computer graphics and physics simulations. It refers to a reference coordinate system that is fixed in space or attached to a larger, stable object. When dealing with multiple objects or systems, each may have its own local coordinate system, known as a child frame or object frame. The isäntäkehys provides a common ground for defining the position, orientation, and transformations of these local frames.

For instance, in a robotic arm simulation, the base of the arm might be considered the isäntäkehys. Each link and joint of the arm would then have its own local coordinate system, which is defined relative to the isäntäkehys or the coordinate system of the preceding link. This hierarchical structure allows for complex movements and manipulations to be described systematically. Transformations, such as translations and rotations, are applied sequentially from the child frame to the parent frame, ultimately relating the object's local coordinates back to the fixed isäntäkehys.
