Intelligentare

Intelligentare is a term used in contemporary technology discourse to denote the process of making a system more intelligent by integrating artificial intelligence capabilities. It is not a standard term in peer-reviewed literature, but it appears in industry blogs, product documentation, and marketing materials to describe adding intelligent features to software, devices, or workflows.

Etymology: The word combines intelligent with the Romance-language infinitive suffix -are (as in Italian and Portuguese). It is used to convey the sense of “to endow with intelligence” or “to make intelligent.”

Scope and usage: Intelligentare can refer to efforts to embed AI components into existing systems, rather than building a system from scratch. Typical activities include selecting and deploying machine learning models, integrating natural language processing, perception (vision, audio), and decision-making components; creating data pipelines and feedback loops; and monitoring performance to adapt behavior over time. The term is often used in marketing or project planning to describe a broad set of AI-enabled enhancements.

Relation to related concepts: It is distinct from general automation, which emphasizes scripted or rule-based processes, and from research-oriented AI, which emphasizes novel algorithms. In practice, intelligentare is frequently used as a high-level umbrella term for AI integration or AI augmentation—improving usability, efficiency, or decision quality.

Limitations and considerations: The lack of a precise definition can lead to hype and ambiguity. Implementations raise concerns about data quality, bias, security, and governance, as well as the need for monitoring and explainability.
