Innstikking

Innstikking is a sewing term used to describe the process of inserting a fabric piece, a decorative motif, or a functional element into another fabric and securing it with stitches along the edges to create a flush, integrated surface. The term is common in Norwegian sewing and textile work and encompasses a range of methods for attaching material in a controlled and durable way.

Etymology and scope: The word combines inn- (in, into) with stikking (stitching). It covers techniques where an insert is laid into a cut or seam and fixed by stitching, often with attention to neat edges and a smooth finish.
