Indicatorfactory

Indicatorfactory is a design concept and, in many implementations, a modular component responsible for creating indicator objects used in time-series analysis, monitoring, and trading applications. It encapsulates the logic for instantiating various indicators so that client code remains decoupled from concrete indicator classes. By centralizing construction, an indicatorfactory enables consistent configuration, parameter validation, and easy extension.

A typical indicatorfactory maintains a registry or map that associates indicator names with constructor functions or classes. Clients request an indicator by name along with configuration parameters (such as period, length, or thresholds). The factory validates inputs, constructs the appropriate indicator instance, and returns it, often exposing a common interface (for example, update with a new data point and a method to retrieve the current value).

Key benefits include improved extensibility, as new indicators can be added to the registry without modifying client code, and enhanced testability through a single creation point. The factory can also implement features such as caching, lazy initialization, or lifecycle management, ensuring that indicators with shared dependencies are efficiently reused.

Common design considerations involve defining a stable indicator interface, handling errors for unknown types or invalid parameters, and documenting supported configurations. Some implementations may support versioning of indicators, dependency injection, or dynamic reconfiguration at runtime.
