IeSF

The International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) is an international federation that coordinates, governs, and promotes competitive video gaming, commonly known as e-sports. Its mission is to standardize competition formats, rules, and eligibility; to foster the development and recognition of e-sports as an international sport; and to facilitate collaboration among national associations, leagues, sponsors, and media.

Established in 2008 in Seoul, South Korea, the IeSF brings together national e-sports associations and affiliated organizations to coordinate events and governance. The federation typically maintains a governance structure based on an elected board and member congresses; it develops competition rules, anti-cheating measures, and refereeing standards to ensure consistency across member events.

IeSF organizes international events including the IeSF World Championship and regional qualifiers, aiming to provide a platform for players to compete at the highest levels. It also acts as a coordinating body for member federations and can participate in dialogues with sports bodies and government agencies to advance recognition of e-sports.

Over time, the IeSF has remained active in certain regions while facing competition and organizational changes within the broader esports governance landscape, including newer bodies that position themselves as global ambassadors for e-sports. Nevertheless, the IeSF continues to support member activities and to promote multi-title competition, fair play, and professional development for players, coaches, and officials.
