IPkaamerad

IPkaamerad refers to a class of networked video devices and supporting software designed for real-time capture, transmission, and analysis of video over IP networks. The term is used in some security and imaging literature to describe an integrated ecosystem that includes cameras, video management software, and middleware capable of interoperability with standard network protocols. It is not a formal, universally adopted standard, but a descriptive label for a commonly deployed approach to IP-based surveillance and monitoring.

Hardware and connectivity: Devices typically include CMOS or CCD sensors, adjustable lenses, and support for multiple resolutions and frame rates. They usually support power over Ethernet (PoE) and offer onboard storage options or cloud integration. Video is encoded using common codecs such as H.264, H.265, or AV1 and streamed via RTSP, RTSP over HTTP, or other protocols. Interoperability is often achieved through open or semi-open interfaces and, in practice, ONVIF-like profiles.
