Havumetsiin
Havumetsiin is a Finnish term describing coniferous forests within the boreal forest belt of the Northern Hemisphere. In common usage it denotes stands dominated by evergreen cone-bearing trees, especially Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and Norway spruce (Picea abies), with admixtures of birch in mixed stands. Havumetsiin are part of the taiga landscape and typically occur in regions with cold winters, short growing seasons, and acidic, nutrient-poor soils such as podzols.
