Hangelastográfia

Hangelastográfia is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technique used to assess the mechanical properties of soft tissues. It utilizes ultrasound technology to measure the elastic modulus of tissue, which indicates its stiffness or softness. The principle behind hangelastográfia is that stiffer tissues transmit ultrasound waves differently than softer tissues. By analyzing how these waves propagate and deform under external stimuli, such as manual compression or vibration, a quantitative map of tissue elasticity can be generated.

This method is particularly valuable in distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions, as cancerous tissues are often stiffer than their surrounding healthy counterparts. Hangelastográfia has found applications in various medical fields, including breast imaging, thyroid imaging, and liver fibrosis assessment. It complements conventional ultrasound by providing additional information about tissue characteristics that may not be apparent on standard B-mode imaging.
