Goblet cell carcinoid, sometimes written goblet cell carcinoid or goblet-cell carcinoid, is a rare neoplasm most commonly arising in the appendix. It is characterized by features of both neuroendocrine differentiation and mucin-producing goblet cells, reflecting its mixed exocrine and endocrine phenotype. The tumor is considered a biphasic or hybrid phenomenon, distinct from conventional adenocarcinomas and from typical gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
