Frequenzgesteuerte

Frequenzgesteuerte describes systems or components whose operation is determined primarily by the frequency of a control signal. In German engineering usage, the term is common in fields such as electrical drive technology, electronics and mechatronics, where frequency serves as a primary control parameter for speed, timing or oscillation characteristics.

A prominent area is the frequency-controlled drive, where the rotational speed of an AC motor is adjusted by varying the input frequency. This is typically realized with a frequency converter (Frequenzumrichter), which converts input power to a variable-frequency output. By changing the frequency (and often the associated voltage in a controlled manner), the motor speed and torque can be set to match performance requirements. This approach enables energy savings, smoother startup, and flexible production processes. Additional control strategies, such as V/f (voltage-to-frequency) regulation and protection features, are commonly employed.

Frequenzgesteuerte concepts also occur outside motor drives. In signal generation, frequenzgesteuerte Oszillatoren or generators produce signals whose frequency is set by an external reference. In precision instrumentation and communication systems, external frequency references determine the behavior of oscillators, synthesizers and test equipment.

Advantages of frequency-controlled designs include adjustable performance, higher efficiency and reduced mechanical stress due to soft-starting. Limitations may involve higher system complexity, cost, and potential electromagnetic interference. The term remains broadly used across engineering disciplines where frequency serves as a principal control variable.
