Fondantti

Fondantti is a type of confection made primarily from sugar, water, and gelatin or agar-agar. It is a popular ingredient in cake decorating due to its smooth, pliable texture and ability to be rolled thin and draped over cakes to create a flawless finish. Fondantti can also be molded into various shapes and figures for decorative purposes.

There are two main types of fondantti: rolled fondant and poured fondant. Rolled fondant, often called plastic icing or sugar paste, is a firm, dough-like substance that can be rolled out and cut. Poured fondant is a softer, more liquid form that is typically used to coat pastries and petits fours, creating a shiny glaze.

While some find the taste pleasant, it is primarily used for its aesthetic qualities rather than its flavor. It is sometimes consumed, but more often it is removed by guests before eating the cake underneath.
