Fluoridálása refers to the process of adding fluoride to public water supplies. This public health measure is primarily aimed at preventing tooth decay and promoting dental health. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that strengthens tooth enamel, making it more resistant to acid attacks from bacteria and sugars in the mouth. By consistently exposing teeth to low levels of fluoride, the remineralization process is enhanced, and the demineralization process is inhibited.

The decision to implement water fluoridation is typically made by local or national health authorities based on scientific evidence and public health recommendations. The concentration of fluoride added to water is carefully controlled to ensure safety and effectiveness.
