Fluoridevarnish
Fluoride varnish is a highly concentrated topical fluoride preparation used in dentistry to prevent dental caries and to manage early enamel lesions. Most varnishes contain 5% sodium fluoride and a resin-based adhesive that allows the fluoride to adhere to the tooth surface for several hours. When applied to clean, dry enamel, the varnish forms a protective layer that slowly releases fluoride over time, promoting remineralization and inhibiting demineralization.
Fluoride varnish is commonly indicated for children and adults at elevated risk of caries, after dental prophylaxis
Typically applied in the dental office by a clinician using a microbrush; teeth are cleaned and dried;
