Fc receptor-like immunoglobulin receptor expressed by myeloid cells (FcRL) is a family of immune receptors that play a role in modulating immune responses, particularly in myeloid cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. These receptors are structurally related to Fc gamma receptors (FcγRs) but differ in their expression patterns, signaling mechanisms, and functional outcomes. Similarly, FcRL3 is upregulated in certain autoimmune conditions, where it may contribute to disease pathogenesis through unclear mechanisms. The intracellular signaling pathways triggered by FcRL engagement remain poorly defined, but they likely involve inhibitory motifs or interactions with adaptor proteins that dampen immune activation.

Genetic studies have identified associations between FcRL polymorphisms and susceptibility to autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, though the exact contributions of these receptors to disease development are still being elucidated.
