Exportklaring

Exportklaring is the process of submitting a customs declaration to authorities to declare goods that are leaving a country. The declaration provides information about the goods, such as description, quantity, value, tariff code, country of origin, and destination, as well as data about the exporter and the recipient, and details of the transport. The purpose is to give customs the data needed to control exports, determine any applicable controls, assess whether duties or taxes are due, verify origin and any preferential treatment, and produce trade statistics.

Who files the declaration can vary by jurisdiction, but it is commonly the exporter or an appointed customs broker or freight forwarder. The declaration is usually submitted electronically through the national customs system and often requires an identifying trader number (such as an EORI number) and the use of accurate commodity classifications. Data typically required includes the commercial description, quantity, net and gross weight, value, origin, destination, and incoterms, along with any licenses, permits, or certificates that apply.

The export process typically involves preparing the necessary documents (commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, licenses or permits, and transport documents), classifying goods with the correct tariff code, and submitting the declaration for customs validation. Once validated, goods may be released for export, possibly after inspection. Non-compliance or incomplete data can lead to delays or penalties and can affect the eligibility for any preferential duty treatment.
