Erastamist

Erastamist is a term occasionally used to describe a person who participates in erastism, a historical social arrangement in ancient Greece involving a relationship between an older male and a younger male beloved. The word derives from the Greek erastes, meaning “lover,” with the English suffix -ist indicating a practitioner. In most scholarly usage, the more common terms are erastēs and erōmenos; erastamist or erastist are relatively rare or antiquarian coinages.

Context and practice: Erastism was discussed primarily in the classical period and across various Greek city-states, most notably in Athens. The relationship often encompassed mentorship, education, and social exchange in addition to a sexual component. The erastes was typically older and established, while the erōmenos was younger and often in puberty or early adulthood.
