EM1X

EM1X, also known as E-M1X, is a professional-grade mirrorless camera released by Olympus Corporation (later OM Digital Solutions) in 2019 as part of the OM-D lineup. It is designed for demanding photographers in sports, wildlife, and outdoor genres, and emphasizes rugged build, extended power, and advanced shooting features.

The camera is built around a magnesium alloy body with extensive weather sealing to protect against dust, splash, and freezing temperatures. A notable design feature is the integrated vertical grip that improves handling and provides extended operation time, with the option to use an additional external grip for even longer shoots. The EM1X relies on the Micro Four Thirds system and is compatible with a wide range of Olympus/OM System lenses.

Imaging and processing capabilities include a 20.4-megapixel Live MOS sensor and dual TruePic VIII image processors. The combination enables fast operation, robust dynamic range, and effective noise control. Reception of the EM1X highlighted its ruggedness, stabilization, and Pro Capture as major strengths, while its bulk and price were common points of critique. It remained a flagship option for Olympus/OM System users seeking professional reliability until newer models appeared.
