ECoGimplantit
ECoGimplantit is a hypothetical or speculative concept referring to the implantation of Electrocorticography (ECoG) grids for medical or research purposes. ECoG is a type of intracranial electroencephalography that records the electrical activity of the brain directly from the surface of the cortex. Unlike standard EEG, which uses electrodes placed on the scalp, ECoG electrodes are placed directly on the dura mater or within the subdural space. This close proximity allows for higher spatial resolution and signal-to-noise ratio, making it valuable for precise localization of brain activity.
Implantation of ECoG grids is typically performed during neurosurgery, often for patients undergoing treatment for epilepsy.
The procedure involves surgically placing the ECoG electrodes onto the surface of the brain. These electrodes
