Dokumenttisyöttölaitteet, often translated as Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), are devices designed to automatically feed a stack of documents into a scanner or copier. This allows for the digitization or copying of multiple pages without the need for manual placement of each individual sheet. ADFs are commonly found in modern office equipment, integrated into scanners, all-in-one printers, and standalone copiers.

The primary function of an ADF is to streamline the scanning and copying process for multi-page documents. Users place a stack of papers into an input tray, and the ADF mechanism pulls them one by one, feeding them through the scanning or copying mechanism. This is significantly more efficient than manually placing each page on a flatbed scanner, especially for large volumes of documents.

Modern ADFs often include features such as duplex scanning, which allows for the automatic scanning of both sides of a page in a single pass. They can also be equipped with ultrasonic sensors to detect if multiple pages have fed through together (a "double feed"), preventing errors and potential damage. The capacity of an ADF varies, with some handling a few dozen pages and others capable of accommodating hundreds. The speed at which documents are fed also varies, impacting the overall efficiency of the device. While ADFs greatly enhance productivity, they are best suited for documents that are of a uniform size and relatively durable, as they may struggle with very thin, torn, or stapled pages.
