Devinachs

Devinachs are a fictional species from the tabletop role-playing game Pathfinder. They are described as amorphous creatures composed of a semi-liquid, gelatinous substance that can alter its shape. This unique physiology allows them to squeeze through small openings and engulf their prey. Devinachs are typically encountered in dark, damp environments, such as caves and sewers, and are known for their stealthy and ambush-predator tactics.

Physically, a devinach lacks a distinct form, often appearing as a shifting mass of translucent or opaque jelly. They can extrude pseudopods to interact with their surroundings, move, and attack. Their internal structure is poorly understood, but it is believed to be a network of specialized cells and fluids. Devinachs are also known to possess a limited ability to absorb and mimic simple shapes and textures from their environment, aiding in their camouflage.

In terms of behavior, devinachs are generally solitary hunters. They are not particularly intelligent but possess a strong predatory instinct. They typically lie in wait for unsuspecting creatures to wander within their reach, at which point they will attempt to engulf and digest their victim. Their digestive process is slow, and the sounds of struggling prey can often be heard from within the devinach's body. Despite their amorphous nature, they can be harmed by conventional weapons, though their gelatinous bodies may absorb some of the impact. Their weaknesses often include extreme heat or cold, which can solidify or dissipate their forms.
