Pathfinder

Pathfinder is a tabletop role-playing game (TRPG) designed for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game core rulebook, first released in 2009 by Paizo Publishing. It expands upon the Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition system, introducing new mechanics, deeper lore, and a broader range of options for players and dungeon masters (DMs). The game is set in the same fantasy world as Dungeons & Dragons, known as the Forgotten Realms, though it also offers alternative settings like Golarion, a custom-continental world created for Pathfinder.

Pathfinder emphasizes a more streamlined and balanced system compared to its predecessor, simplifying some complex rules while adding optional mechanics for greater customization. It features a class-based progression system where characters advance through levels, gaining new abilities, skills, and equipment. The game includes a vast array of classes (such as fighter, rogue, and cleric), races (including humans, elves, dwarves, and more), and magical traditions, allowing for diverse character creation. While it remains a standalone system, its compatibility with D&D 3.5 materials has allowed for cross-play between the two games.
