DENV2 refers to Dengue virus serotype 2, one of the four serotypes of the virus that causes dengue fever. Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease. The other serotypes are DENV1, DENV3, and DENV4. Infection with one serotype provides lifelong immunity to that specific serotype but only temporary and partial immunity to the others. This is important because subsequent infections with a different serotype can increase the risk of developing severe dengue, also known as dengue hemorrhagic fever.
