In Romanian, coruptibil is the adjective form meaning capable of being corrupted, while coruptibilitatea or coruptibilitatea poate refers to the property of being corruptible. The concept is primarily theoretical and is applied in political science, ethics, and organizational studies to analyze why actors accept or engage in corrupt behavior.

The notion does not imply a fixed trait but rather a condition that varies with context. Coruptibilitatea is shaped by incentives, institutional design, cultural norms, and economic conditions. Strong rules, transparent procedures, and robust accountability mechanisms can reduce coruptibilitatea, whereas high discretion, opaque decision-making, and weak checks on power can increase it. Research on coruptibil often uses surveys, experiments, and case studies to identify conditions that predispose or deter corrupt behavior. Models from game theory and behavioral economics explore how incentives and information asymmetry drive corrupt actions. Critics argue that the concept can oversimplify complex social dynamics and that measurements of corruption and coruptibilitate are sensitive to context and framing.
