Contextinfluence refers to the effect that surrounding conditions, cues, or environments have on the interpretation, judgment, or behavior of individuals or systems. The term is used across disciplines to describe how meaning and outcomes can vary without changes to core content, simply due to context.

Contextinfluence operates through mechanisms such as framing, priming, social cues, or situational factors. Framing or wording can alter perceived value or risk; priming can bias subsequent judgments; social norms and expectations guide behavior in group settings. Context can be linguistic, visual, situational, cultural, temporal, or methodological.

Measuring effect sizes and mitigating confounds is important; replication and cross-cultural validity are common concerns.

Applications include design of user interfaces and educational materials; marketing and brand communication; legal and policy communication; and AI systems where input context shapes outputs.
