Constructionselements, often written as construction elements, is a broad term used in architecture, civil engineering, and construction management to denote the discrete components that form a building or infrastructure project. These elements may be structural, architectural, or service-related and are managed through design, procurement, fabrication, and installation processes. Identifying construction elements supports planning, cost estimation, scheduling, quality control, and long-term maintenance.

Classification of construction elements typically groups them into structural, architectural, service, and finishes categories. Structural elements include foundations (footings, piles), frames (columns, beams, slabs), and supporting members (bracing, shear walls). Architectural elements cover enclosures and facades (walls, windows, doors, roofs), as well as interior partitions, stairs, and ramps. Service elements comprise mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (HVAC ducts, piping, electrical conduits, fire protection). Finishes and interiors consist of flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, and fixtures. Temporary works such as formwork and scaffolding are often treated as construction elements for planning purposes.

Materials commonly used for construction elements include concrete, steel, timber, masonry, glass, and composites. Material choice depends on function, load requirements, climate, and code compliance. In modern practice, building information modeling (BIM) and work breakdown structures (WBS) are used to model, price, and sequence construction elements. Standards and codes vary by jurisdiction but generally address performance, safety, interoperability, and durability of the elements throughout design, construction, and operation.
