Circuleerides

Circuleerides is a term sometimes used to describe a type of bicycle designed for use in a velodrome. Velodromes are specialized, banked cycling tracks designed for track cycling events. Circuleerides are typically fixed-gear bicycles, meaning they have a direct drive connection between the pedals and the rear wheel, with no freewheel. This setup means that when the rear wheel is rotating, the pedals are also rotating, and braking is achieved through resistance from the rider's legs.

These bicycles are often characterized by their lightweight construction, aerodynamic frame designs, and lack of extraneous components like gears, derailleurs, or brakes (though some may have a front brake for training purposes). The focus is on simplicity, efficiency, and the ability to achieve high speeds on the smooth, banked surface of a velodrome. The pedals often have straps or clipless pedal systems to ensure the rider's feet remain securely attached, allowing for maximum power transfer. The tires are typically narrow and high-pressure to minimize rolling resistance.
