CEWindows
CEWindows refers to the operating system kernel developed by Microsoft for its Windows CE platform. Windows CE, often referred to as Windows Embedded Compact, was a real-time operating system developed by Microsoft for embedded systems and devices. The CEWindows kernel was designed to be lightweight and modular, allowing developers to customize it for specific hardware and application requirements. It supported a wide range of processors, including ARM, MIPS, and x86. The kernel provided core operating system services such as process and thread management, memory management, inter-process communication, and device driver interfaces. It was known for its small footprint, making it suitable for devices with limited memory and processing power. CEWindows has been used in a variety of devices including handheld computers, mobile phones, industrial controllers, automotive infotainment systems, and set-top boxes. Microsoft has since evolved its embedded operating system offerings, with newer versions of Windows Embedded and Windows IoT.
