Boeing

Boeing Company, commonly known as Boeing, is an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and sells airplanes, rotorcraft, missiles, satellites, and related services. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, it is one of the world's largest aerospace and defense contractors and a major U.S. exporter with operations around the globe.

Founded in 1916 as Pacific Aero Products Co. by William Boeing, it was renamed Boeing Airplane Company in 1917 and later became The Boeing Company. The firm played a leading role in military and commercial aviation and expanded into space systems. In 1997, Boeing merged with McDonnell Douglas, creating a broader portfolio in both civil and defense markets.

Boeing operates through three main segments: Boeing Commercial Airplanes, which produces the 737 family, 747, 767, 777 and 787; Boeing Defense, Space & Security, with products such as the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, CH-47 Chinook, P-8 Poseidon and KC-46 Pegasus; and Boeing Global Services, which provides parts, maintenance, training and digital solutions.

In space activities, Boeing has developed the CST-100 Starliner for NASA's Commercial Crew Program and participates in broader space systems and launch services through its defense and space ecosystem. The company is also a major contractor for NASA and allied programs.

The 737 MAX grounding following two fatal accidents in 2018–2019 led to extensive design, certification, and financial consequences, prompting changes in training and software. Boeing remains a central supplier for commercial aircraft and national security programs, with a global production and supplier network.
