The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, commonly referred to as the 787, is a wide-body airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It represents a shift toward widespread use of composite materials in airframe construction and is designed to offer lower fuel consumption on long-haul routes. Development began in the early 2000s and the aircraft first flew in December 2009, entering commercial service in October 2011 with All Nippon Airways. The 787 family comprises three passenger variants: the 787-8, the 787-9, and the stretched 787-10, each sized to meet different capacity and range requirements.
