Biomechanice

Biomechanice is a term occasionally used to refer to the study of the mechanical aspects of living systems. In mainstream science, the field is known as biomechanics; biomechanice is often treated as a variant spelling or nonstandard term. The core aim is to understand how forces, motions, and material properties govern biological structure and function across scales—from molecules and cells to tissues and whole organisms.

The discipline combines biology, physics, engineering, and computer science. Subfields include musculoskeletal biomechanics, locomotion, cellular and tissue biomechanics, and fluid biomechanics. Methods integrate experimental approaches such as motion capture, force measurement, and imaging with computational tools like finite element analysis, multibody dynamics, and other simulations to model how systems respond to loads and flows.

Applications span medical device design, orthopedics, rehabilitation, sports science, and robotics. Biomechanice concepts inform training regimens and injury prevention, guide the development of prosthetics and implants, and contribute to the design of bioinspired technologies. Researchers also consider variability among species and individuals, model validation, and the translation of model-based insights into clinical and industrial practice.

History and relationship to biomechanics: Early work by anatomists and physicists in the past centuries laid the groundwork for modern biomechanical analysis. The term biomechanics became standard in the 20th century as measurement and computation advanced. Biomechanice remains a rarely used variant, with biomechanics serving as the established name for the field.
