BingeEatingStörung, often translated as Binge Eating Disorder (BED), is an eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of consuming significantly more food than is normal in a discrete period of time, accompanied by a sense of loss of control over eating. These episodes typically occur at least once a week for at least three months. During a binge eating episode, individuals consume large amounts of food quickly, often until uncomfortably full. They may eat alone due to embarrassment, eat much faster than usual, eat large amounts of food when not feeling physically hungry, and feel disgusted with themselves, depressed, or very guilty afterward.
