Belmarklow

Belmarklow is a fictional town in Eldoria, a coastal country in the northern part of the continent. It is the administrative seat of Northharbor District and sits on a flat river plain where the Belmar River flows through the town and a modest harbour lies on the southern edge. The climate is temperate, with cool winters and mild summers.

Founded in 1683 by settlers from Marisport seeking access to freshwater and fishing grounds, Belmarklow developed as a trading post and shipping hub after the Belmar Canal was opened in the early nineteenth century. It expanded gradually, absorbing nearby hamlets and timber operations.

The economy combines fishing, timber processing, a packaging plant, and a regional distribution centre. Tourism remains modest, centered on riverfront promenades, a restored fort, and local markets.

Belmarklow is governed by a town council led by a mayor, under the jurisdiction of Northharbor Province. Public services include a central library, a small community college campus, and a health centre.

The town has about 12,000 residents. The population is ethnically diverse, with families that have lived in the area for generations and newer residents drawn by jobs in logistics and manufacturing.

Annual River Festival highlights the town’s waterways heritage. Notable sites include the Old Fort Bel, the Belmar Bridge, and Windmill Park.

Served by a regional railway line and a major road, Belmarklow also has a small airstrip used for charter flights and emergency services.
