Belgarion

Belgarion is a fictional character created by American author David Eddings, serving as the principal protagonist of The Belgariad and its sequel series The Malloreon. In his youth, he is known simply as Garion, a farmboy raised on Faldor's Farm and cared for by his Aunt Pol (Polgara) and his Uncle. He is mentored by the sorcerer Belgarath and becomes entwined in a prophecied quest to recover the Orb of Aldur and confront the dark god Torak.

Belgarion is revealed to be a mortal descendant linked to the ancient line of Aldur’s chosen, a prophesied figure destined to restore balance to a world torn by war between light and darkness. He travels with Belgarath, Polgara, and a diverse company of companions, including Ce'Nedra, a Mallorean princess who becomes his ally and later his wife, as well as other allies such as the blacksmith Durnik and the roguish Silk.

Throughout the Belgariad, Garion gradually assumes responsibility and grows from an inexperienced youth into a capable leader. The quest culminates in the defeat of Torak, the recovery of the Orb, and the restoration of balance.

In The Malloreon, he takes the name Belgarion and ascends to the throne as king of the united realms of Riva and Mallorea, ruling with his wife Ce'Nedra. Belgarion’s story has been influential in the high fantasy genre and remains a central element of Eddings’ mythos.
