Garion

Garion is a fictional character created by American author David Eddings and the principal figure in the fantasy epics The Belgariad and The Malloreon, published in the 1980s. He begins life as a modest farm boy and grows into a central actor in a broader struggle between good and evil. The character is guided by two powerful mentors, Belgarath the Sorcerer and his daughter Polgara, who act as his guardians and teachers as he discovers his latent magical abilities and his pivotal role in ancient prophecies.

In-story, Garion is revealed to be the Child of the Prophecy, destined to bear the ancient Orb of Aldur and confront the Dark God Torak. His quest to recover the stolen Orb and thwart Torak drives the narrative of The Belgariad, a five-volume sequence that follows his travels across a richly built world with a diverse cast of allies, including the princess Ce’Nedra and a cadre of companions. As the series progresses, Garion embraces leadership responsibilities, develops his sorcery, and confronts moral and political complexities that test his ideals.

The Belgariad consists of Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, Magician’s Gambit, Castle of Wizardry, and Enchanters End Game. The Malloreon continues Garion’s saga with Guardians of the West, King of the Murgos, Demon Lord of Karanda, Sorceress of Darshiva, and Seeress of Kell.
