BIMmodels
BIMmodels are digital representations created within Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows that integrate the physical and functional characteristics of a facility. A BIMmodel combines geometric 3D geometry with metadata such as properties, quantities, schedules, and constraints, enabling multidisciplinary collaboration across design, construction, and facility management. Unlike traditional drawings, BIMmodels are data-rich and parametric, so changes to one element automatically update related parts of the model.
Core characteristics include parametric objects, interoperability, version control, and a shared data environment. Objects represent components
Applications span the lifecycle: design coordination and clash detection during preconstruction; quantity takeoffs and cost estimation;
Challenges include data quality, tool interoperability, and governance of model updates. The level of development (LOD)
In practice, BIMmodels serve as a single source of truth for project teams, enabling faster decisions, reduced
