The word combines aura with kindlus, meaning fortress or stronghold. In contemporary usage, aurikindlus is presented as a personal boundary technique rather than a scientifically validated phenomenon.

Practitioners describe methods such as focused visualization of a bright shield around the body, breath control, grounding exercises, and setting intentions or affirmations. Some anecdotes involve color imagery (for example, imagining a gold or violet aura) and cleansing rituals or rites performed before social interactions or stressful situations.
