Astuin

Astuin is a fictional town in the northern frontier of the realm of Eldara. It appears in multiple fantasy works, including novels, role-playing games, and video adaptations, where it is described as a bustling hub of trade and scholarship.

It lies at the confluence of the Veyr and Nald rivers, in a valley surrounded by pine-clad hills. The surrounding countryside supports farming, timber, and river commerce. The climate is temperate with cold winters and bright, short summers.

Astuin traces its origins to early settlers of the Darin Confederacy, who built the Stone Gate as a defensive entry to the valley. The town survived a major flood in the eighth century and later rebuilt, reinforcing its position as a trade center.

Today, Astuin is governed by a town council composed of guildmasters, merchants, and senior clerics. It does not have a single ruler. The population is diverse, with humans, dwarves, elves, and halflings living and working side by side.

The economy centers on river trade, timber, metalwork, and textile crafts. Cultural life centers on the Starfall Festival, seasonal markets, and scholarly programs at the Observatory of Veyra.

Notable sites include the Stone Gate, the Market of Lanterns, and the Cliffside Monastery. The Astuin Library houses arcane and historical manuscripts and serves as a resource for researchers and travelers.

In popular media, Astuin is used as a setting for quests and political intrigue, appearing across several game licenses and literary series.
