Arendusmeeskond

Arendusmeeskond is the Estonian term for a development team, a cross-functional unit responsible for delivering software features from concept to production within a product or project.

A typical arendusmeeskond includes software developers, testers, UX/UI designers, a product owner or product manager, and often DevOps or site reliability engineers. In larger organizations, teams are commonly organized as cross-functional feature teams, each responsible for end-to-end delivery of specific functionality.

Work is usually iterative, using sprints or Kanban. The team maintains a backlog, participates in planning, conducts daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, and adheres to a definition of done. Agile or lean practices guide development, emphasizing collaboration, rapid feedback, code quality, and continuous delivery. Version control, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment are standard tools and processes.

Responsibilities include architectural decisions, writing and reviewing code, integrating components, testing, deploying, and maintaining software, and addressing technical debt, security, and compliance. The arendusmeeskond collaborates with product management, design, and operations to ensure alignment with goals and smooth delivery.

Variants exist: small teams handling end-to-end delivery, and larger organizations with multiple arendusmeeskonnad, including platform teams and program-level coordination. The concept reflects a common organizational approach in Estonian IT and software development.
