Acura

Acura is the luxury vehicle division of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., established in 1986 to offer premium automobiles and to compete with established luxury brands. The marque emphasizes performance, technology, and refinement, with a focus on delivering a high level of quality and reliability. Although based in Japan, Acura operates primarily in North America, where it markets a range of sedans, SUVs, and performance cars.

Historically, Acura’s North American debut in 1986 introduced the Legend sedan and Integra hatchback, marking the brand’s entry into the upscale market. The first NSX, launched in 1990, established Acura’s performance credentials as a mid‑engine sports car. Through the 1990s and 2000s, Acura expanded its lineup with sportier sedans and coupes such as the TL and RSX and grew its SUV range with the MDX and RDX. The NSX was redesigned and relaunched in 2016 as a hybrid supercar.

Current lineup includes the ILX compact sedan, the TLX mid-size sedan, and the MDX and RDX SUVs. In recent years, Acura has introduced Type S performance variants, offering higher output and enhanced handling, and has integrated safety and driver-assistance technologies under the AcuraWatch umbrella. Many models use Honda’s SH-AWD all‑wheel‑drive system to improve traction and handling.

Technology and design philosophy center on Precision Crafted Performance, combining driver engagement with advanced engineering and quality interiors. As part of Honda’s electrification strategy, Acura offers hybrid options on several models and plans for further electrified and electrified‑to‑electric variants in the future.
