Aansluitcapaciteit refers to the maximum amount of electrical power that can be safely connected to a specific electrical installation or network without exceeding its design limits. This concept is crucial in both residential and industrial settings to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems. The term is commonly used in the Netherlands and other Dutch-speaking regions.

In a residential context, aansluitcapaciteit typically refers to the maximum power that can be drawn from the public electricity grid at a given property. This is often measured in kilovoltamperes (kVA) and is determined by the electrical infrastructure installed at the meter cabinet. For example, a standard Dutch household might have an aansluitcapaciteit of 45 kVA, which dictates the maximum power consumption allowed at any one time. Exceeding this limit can lead to tripping of the main circuit breaker, causing a power outage.

Industrial and commercial buildings may have higher aansluitcapaciteit values, depending on their energy requirements. The capacity is influenced by factors such as the size of the electrical cables, the transformer rating, and the protection devices installed.
