Äldrevården refers to the system of care and support provided to elderly individuals in Sweden. These include service residences (servicebostad) which offer individual apartments with access to communal facilities and care staff, and nursing homes (särskilt boende) for individuals with more significant care needs, often including medical supervision and specialized care for conditions like dementia.

Specialized healthcare for the elderly is also a crucial component. This includes geriatric medicine, rehabilitation services, palliative care, and access to healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists who have expertise in age-related health issues.
