Ægløsningen
Ægløsningen, also known as ovulation, is a biological process in the female reproductive cycle. It typically occurs around the midpoint of the menstrual cycle, often around day 14 in a 28-day cycle, although this can vary significantly between individuals. During ægløsningen, a mature egg cell is released from one of the ovaries. This release is triggered by a surge in luteinizing hormone (LH), which is produced by the pituitary gland.
Following its release, the egg travels down the fallopian tube, where it may be fertilized by sperm.
