The causes of anxiety disorders are complex and can include a combination of genetic predisposition, brain chemistry, personality traits, and life experiences, such as trauma or chronic stress. Symptoms can vary widely depending on the specific disorder and individual, but often include both psychological aspects like persistent worry, restlessness, and irritability, and physical manifestations such as fatigue, muscle tension, sleep disturbances, and digestive issues.

Diagnosis is typically made by a mental health professional based on a thorough evaluation of symptoms, medical history, and psychological assessments. Treatment for anxiety disorders often involves psychotherapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. Medication, including antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs, may also be prescribed. A combination of therapy and medication is often most effective. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals experiencing anxiety disorders.
