Zöldtetket, also known as *green tetcht* or *green tetcht disease*, is a fungal infection primarily affecting certain species of plants, particularly those in the *Lamiaceae* family, such as mint and basil. The term originates from Hungarian, where "zöld" means "green" and "tetket" refers to a type of leaf spot or blight. The condition is caused by various fungal pathogens, most commonly *Cercospora* or *Pseudocercospora* species, which thrive in warm, humid conditions.

Symptoms of zöldtetket typically include irregular, olive-green to brown spots on leaves, often with yellow halos. These spots may enlarge and merge, leading to leaf necrosis and premature defoliation. In severe cases, the infection can spread to stems and flowers, weakening the plant and reducing yield. The disease is favored by excessive moisture, poor air circulation, and high humidity, making greenhouse environments particularly susceptible.

Management of zöldtetket involves preventive measures such as crop rotation, proper spacing between plants to enhance airflow, and avoiding overhead watering. Fungicidal treatments, including copper-based sprays or systemic fungicides, can be applied at the first signs of infection. Resistant plant varieties and good sanitation practices, such as removing infected plant debris, also help mitigate the spread of the disease.

While zöldtetket is not typically a major concern for home gardeners with small-scale plantings, commercial growers may experience significant losses if the infection is not controlled. Early detection and proactive management are key to minimizing damage and maintaining plant health.
