Woodcontaining is an adjective used to describe materials or products that include wood as part of their composition or structure. The term is commonly applied in manufacturing, construction, and materials science to distinguish wood-containing materials from those that are entirely wood-free.

Examples include natural wood (lumber and dimensional timber) and engineered wood products such as particleboard, medium-density fibreboard, plywood, and laminated veneer lumber. It also applies to wood fiber–reinforced composites, where wood fibers or flour are combined with polymers, resins, or binders. Paper and cardboard are wood-containing products made from wood pulp. Some decorative or packaging materials may include wood components such as veneer or wood flour fillers.

Properties and performance of wood-containing materials are influenced by the wood content. Wood affects strength, stiffness, moisture absorption, thermal insulation, and biodegradability. As wood content increases, dimensional instability due to moisture changes can become more pronounced, making bonding systems and sealants critical to durability. Processing methods often require specialized adhesives, binders, and drying steps to optimize performance.

Environmental and regulatory considerations may accompany wood-containing products. Sustainability of the wood source, certification schemes, and end-of-life options (recycling, composting, or energy recovery) are common concerns. Manufacturers may also report wood content by mass or volume, which can affect recyclability and compatibility with other materials.
